Join us to discuss select pieces at the New Bedford Whaling Museum (NBWM)! The NBWM exhibits a robust range of historical and contemporary art, including work in the NBWM collection as well has new work from regional artists. In this Art Conversations tour, we'll explore themes including Allegory of Truth in "The Spirit of the Age" by William Allen Wall, as well as paintings representing daily work life in "Corner of the Sail Loft" by Clifford W Ashley and "Leonard's Boat Shop" by Clement Nye Swift. NBWM is committed to sharing contemporary art, and we'll explore a mixed-media installation entitled "Ahab's Head: American Vengeance" by Boston-area artist Heidi Whitman, which considers how the violent world of whaling might align with our current world.
