FRIENDS OF THE DARTMOUTH LIBRARIES
Southworth Library Book Sale (Multiday event)
Dartmouth -- The Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries will sponsor their Spring Book Sale at
the Southworth Library from Wednesday, April 29, to Saturday, May 2. Thousands of books, all
in good condition, will be available for purchase.
The general sale hours are:
- Thursday, April 30, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.;
- Friday, May 1, from 10 a.m.-4p.m.;
- Saturday, May 2, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
A preview for members of the Friends will take place on Wednesday, April 29, from 4-7 p.m.Because of the popularity of the members’ preview, advance registration is required. Members
can sign up for a 45-minute time slot beginning at 4 p.m., 5 p.m., and 6 p.m. by calling the
Library at (508) 999-0726. Only 20 openings are available for each time slot, so members are
encouraged to call early. Scanners will not be allowed during the preview.
To ensure the comfort and safety of shoppers and volunteers, browsing is limited to 20 patrons at
a time throughout the sale. Only cash and checks are accepted.
Memberships can be renewed or purchased at the door throughout the sale. All members will
receive a coupon for one free regularly priced book.
Proceeds from the fall and spring book sales allow the Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries to
offer free educational programs for adults and children; provide cost-saving passes for museums,
parks, and zoos; host the annual Molly Little Film Series; and fund special library events and
purchases. Other funding sources are the annual membership drive and the continuing book sale
in both libraries.
The sale will be held in the Haskell Room at the Southworth Library, 732 Dartmouth Street.
