Mass Audubon at Allen's Pond presents the summer Speaker Series.
This week: Making the Path to Salt Marsh Restoration Less Muddy
Presented by Sara Grady, Senior Coastal Ecologist at Mass Audubon
Thursday, June 18, 7:00-8:00 pm
Salt marsh restoration is a complex, multi-step process. Drawing on current and recent Mass Audubon projects, explore the science, challenges, and real-world decision-making behind these efforts, offering a behind-the-scenes perspective on how restoration happens and why it is so vital for protecting coastal ecosystems, wildlife habitat, and climate resilience.
Pull up a seat in the Stone Barn this summer for an evening that goes beyond the typical nature talk. Senior Coastal Ecologist Sara Grady walks us through what it actually takes to restore a salt marsh—from choosing the right site to getting the work done on the ground. Salt marsh restoration projects involve many steps, and some of them can seem a little murky; Sara draws on multiple recent Mass Audubon efforts to clear the path and show how this critical coastal work gets done. Free and open to the community, this is a rare chance to hear directly from a scientist doing the work. Come ready with questions to be answered.
Support for this speaker series is generously provided by our community sponsors The Bayside Restaurant and Daniel J. Galli & Associates.
